You apply online in four steps, following the college's How to Apply page:

1. Complete the free career guidance assessment. Go to gostudy.net/emc, register with your name and ID number, and answer the questionnaire. It helps you choose between Business, Engineering and Occupational Studies.

2. Choose your programme and campus. Use your assessment results and the Courses on Offer list to pick a course and the campus that offers it.

3. Apply online. Click Apply Now on emcol.co.za. Register, accept the terms and conditions, and complete your three-step student profile. Enter your latest results as percentages, then create a new application by choosing the year, course, course duration and campus. Tick all the subjects for your course, complete every section until it shows a green tick, and upload your documents as PDFs.

4. Apply for funding. Apply for NSFAS at my.nsfas.org.za at the same time, so your funding is in place if you're accepted. NSFAS 2027 applications close on 31 October 2026 and won't reopen in January 2027.

Entry requirements

• NC(V) Level 2: a Grade 11 or Grade 12 year-end report, an NQF Level 1 qualification, an approved bridging programme, or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Grade 9 and 10 learners are considered only in exceptional cases.

• Report 191 Business Studies (N4–N6): Grade 12 (NSC). New students enrol for all four subjects in their field.

• Report 191 Engineering Studies: depends on the level. N1–N3 usually need Grade 12, depending on your subjects and symbols, and each higher level needs the level below it (for example, N4 needs N3).

• Occupational programmes: requirements vary by programme, so ask the campus that offers your course.

Applications for 2027 occupational programmes are open now. NC(V) and Report 191 applications closed on 30 September 2026. Places on many courses are limited by DHET enrolment targets, so apply as early as you can when the next window opens.

Do I need matric to study at Eastcape Midlands TVET College? It depends on your course. NC(V) Level 2 asks for a Grade 11 or 12 report, while Business Studies N4 needs Grade 12.

Watch out for scams: only apply through the college's official website, and never pay anyone to apply on your behalf.

EMC offers three types of qualifications. The campus that offers each course is shown in brackets, so check before you apply.

NC(V): National Certificate (Vocational), Levels 2–4

A three-year programme (one level per year) that combines theory with practical work. Each level has seven subjects: three fundamental and four vocational.

Each level takes six months (January to June or July to December), with four subjects per level.
