Eastcape Midlands TVET College Status Check (2027)
Applied to Eastcape Midlands TVET College (EMC) for 2027 and wondering what happens next? EMC's 2027 applications closed on 31 October 2026, so now is the time to keep an eye on your application.
Quick answer: you check your EMC application status online, by logging in to the EMC application portal with the username and password you created when you applied. EMC also contacts applicants using the email address and cellphone number on their profile.
In this guide, we show you how to check your status step by step, what to do if something's missing, and how to check your NSFAS status too.
Last updated: 5 November 2026. The application steps in this guide come from EMC's official How to Apply page, and the closing date from EMC's official Facebook page.
How to Check Your EMC Application Status
Go to the EMC application portal. Open emc.coltech.co.za on your phone or computer.
Log in. Use the username and password you created when you registered. EMC's How to Apply page reminds applicants to keep their login details safe for exactly this reason.
Open your Dashboard. Go to Current Applications to see the course or courses you applied for.
Check each section of your application. Every section should show a green tick. A red section means something is missing or incomplete.
Check your documents. Click Docs in the same row as your application to see the documents you uploaded.
Look for updates from EMC. Check the status shown next to your application, and look out for emails and SMSes from EMC.
Tip: check your status at least once a week, and check your email's spam or junk folder too. EMC uses the email address and cellphone number on your profile to contact you, so make sure they're correct.
What Your EMC Application Status Means
EMC doesn't publish an official list of status meanings, so the exact wording on your portal may differ. Here's what the most common stages usually mean and what you should do at each one.
What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Red sections on your application | Your application is incomplete | Open each red section and finish it, or upload the missing documents |
All green ticks, no update yet | Your application is complete and waiting to be reviewed | Keep checking the portal, your email and your SMSes |
Invitation to a placement or entrance test | EMC wants to assess you before placing you | Go to the test on the date and campus given, and bring your ID |
Admission letter available | You've been offered a place | Download your letter from the portal and follow the registration steps |
No offer, or a waiting list | There's no space for you yet | Contact EMC about other courses, or consider the next intake |
Good to know: an offer isn't a guarantee of a seat until you register. EMC can only enrol a set number of students each year (this target is set by the Department of Higher Education and Training), so register as soon as you're told to.
Missing documents? EMC asks for PDF uploads. Make sure your ID and results are clear and, if certified copies are needed, that they were certified within the last three months.
Common Problems When Checking Your EMC Status
I forgot my password or username
If there's a forgot password option on the EMC application portal login page, use it. If not, or if it doesn't work, contact EMC (details below). Don't create a new profile, because a second application can cause delays.
My application still shows red sections
Applications closed on 31 October 2026, so contact EMC directly to ask whether you can still complete your application. The sooner you do this, the better.
I haven't heard anything from EMC
It's normal for reviews to take a few weeks after applications close. If your sections all show green ticks and you still haven't had any update by the start of the new year, phone EMC or visit your nearest campus. EMC's How to Apply page says any campus can help you with your application.

How to Check Your NSFAS Status for EMC
Your EMC application and your NSFAS application are two separate things. Getting a place at EMC doesn't mean NSFAS has approved your funding, and the other way around.
At TVET colleges, NSFAS funds the DHET TVET Colleges Bursary Scheme. To be considered, you must be a South African citizen, show financial need, meet the academic requirements and keep at least 80% class attendance. Read more on EMC's bursary page.
To check your NSFAS status:
