No Application Fee: Coastal KZN does not charge an application fee. You pay only tuition fees once admitted.

Payment Arrangements: Fees can be paid in full at commencement or arranged through installment plans with the Finance Office. Students approved for NSFAS funding have fees covered directly from their NSFAS allocation.

Admission Requirements and Entry Process

Educational Prerequisites: Prospective students must have completed at least Grade 9 (Form 3) or equivalent qualification. Grade 11 or Grade 12 completion is preferred for most programmes.

Documentation Requirements: All applicants require original certified copy of national ID or passport. Submit certified copies of your latest academic results. Proof of residence is required for verification.

Pre-Entry Screening Requirement: Coastal KZN requires all applicants to complete a Pre-Entry Screening Test assessing literacy and numeracy competency. This assessment takes approximately two hours and covers reading comprehension, written communication, basic mathematics, and problem-solving.

Screening Scheduling: Pre-Entry Screening dates are scheduled throughout the application period. Complete your online application via Coltech, and the system will offer available screening appointment times at your preferred campus.

NSFAS and Financial Support

NSFAS Availability: Coastal KZN TVET College is a registered NSFAS-eligible institution. Students from households with combined family income below the NSFAS threshold automatically qualify for financial aid. NSFAS covers 100% of approved students’ tuition fees plus provides monthly living allowances.

NSFAS Application Process: Register for NSFAS funding through www.nsfas.org.za during the official application window (typically August-November). Submit required documentation including proof of household income, certified ID copy, and your Coastal KZN admission letter.

NSFAS Coverage Details: Approved students receive full tuition fee payments transferred directly to the college. Monthly living allowances are disbursed to students’ personal bank accounts, supporting accommodation, meals, transport, and study materials.

Courses and Qualifications Offered

National Certificate (Vocational) – NCV Programmes: Coastal KZN offers comprehensive NCV qualifications at Levels 2, 3, and 4 across multiple occupational fields. Students study approximately seven subjects per academic year. NCV programmes span 12-36 months depending on entry level.

NATED Engineering Programmes: Advanced technical qualifications following the NATED framework for engineering disciplines. NATED programmes operate on a trimester system, allowing flexibility and accelerated progression. Engineering courses include civil, electrical, mechanical engineering, delivered across three ten-week terms annually.

NATED Business Programmes: Business-focused NATED qualifications delivered on a semester basis, covering two 18-week teaching periods per year. These programmes develop business administration, management, accounting, and commerce competencies.
