Ekurhuleni West TVET College (EWC) is a premier public technical and vocational education and training institution serving the western region of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng Province. The college serves over 15,000 students annually across its network of campuses, delivering quality vocational education that equips students with practical, job-ready skills in high-demand industries.

2026 Application and Academic Dates

2026 First Intake – Main Application Period: Application Opening Date: 1 September 2025. Application Closing Date: 30 November 2025. Academic Year Start: January 2026. Fee Payment Deadline: 31 October 2026.

2026 Mid-Year (Third Trimester) Intake: Third Trimester Application Closing: 12 September 2026. Available for selected NCV and Report 191 programmes, subject to space availability at various campuses.

It is crucial to meet application deadlines. Late applications are not accepted, so applicants are strongly encouraged to apply online well before the closing dates.

2026 Tuition Fees and Cost Structure

Ekurhuleni West TVET College maintains affordable tuition fees. The college is NSFAS-funded, allowing qualifying students to have their fees covered.

NCV Programme Fees: General NCV Programmes: approximately R8,000 to R15,000 per annum. Engineering, IT, and Mechatronics NCV: approximately R12,000 to R18,000 per annum.

Admission Requirements

Admission depends on the specific programme. The college welcomes South African citizens and permanent residents who meet minimum academic requirements.

NCV Level 2 Entry: Completed Grade 9 or equivalent (Grade 10 preferred). Mathematics and English are essential for most programmes.

Report 191 (NATED) N4-N6 Entry: Grade 12 completion required. For Engineering N4-N6, Grade 12 Mathematics and Science are mandatory prerequisites.

Skills Programmes: Flexible entry requirements, open to school leavers and unemployed youth. Admission is based on merit, meeting minimum requirements, and space availability.

Germiston Campus: Corner Driehoek & Sol Roads, Germiston 1401 | Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Business Studies, Hospitality Traineeship. Kempton Park Campus: Partridge Avenue | Engineering (Aviation/Avionics), Electrical Engineering—proximity to O.R. Tambo Airport provides unique aviation training. Boksburg Campus: Engineering, Technical Studies, Business Administration.

Alberton Campus: Engineering, Business, Information Technology. Tembisa Campus: Business Studies, Hospitality, Utility Services. Kathorus Campus (Katlehong/Vosloorus/Thokoza): Engineering, Business Studies, Community Services. Students can attend the campus closest to their home while maintaining unified academic standards across all locations.

Programs and Courses Offered

EWC offers diverse vocational programs tailored to industry demands.

NCV Level 2, 3, and 4: NCV Business Studies, Information Technology, Engineering and Mechatronics, Hospitality Studies, Tourism Studies, and Utility Services.

Report 191 (NATED) N1-N6: Engineering N1-N6 (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering Graphics and Design). Business N1-N6 (Financial Management, Management Practice, Labour Relations).

Occupational Skills Programmes: Including the 18-month Hospitality Traineeship Programme at the Germiston Campus. Each program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical training.

NSFAS Funding and Financial Aid

Ekurhuleni West TVET College is NSFAS-eligible. Qualifying students can have tuition fees and living expenses covered through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

NSFAS Eligibility: Must be registered on an NC(V) or Report 191 programme; household annual income R350,000 or less (R600,000 for students with disabilities); must be a South African citizen; returning students must demonstrate acceptable academic progress.
