SANTS Private Higher Education

About SANTS Private Higher Education

Welcome to SANTS Private Higher Education, where a distinguished legacy of 29 years in education defines our commitment to empowering teachers and educators. Established on 17 November 1997 as the South African National Tutor Services (SANTS), our institution has consistently strived to develop teachers who not only instruct but also make a lasting impact in classrooms.

Over the past quarter-century, SANTS Private Higher Education has played a pivotal role, delivering diverse programmes and qualifications to over 40,000 practitioners and teachers in the education sector. Commencing as a modest organization providing expertise to reorganized provincial education departments, we rapidly evolved. In the early years, we collaborated with these departments to conduct in-service training programmes, establishing a reputation for excellence.

By 2001, propelled by a remarkable track record and escalating demand, we expanded into a Further Education and Training service provider. Our focus shifted toward Early Childhood Development and Continuing Teacher Development programmes. In 2012, marking a significant milestone, SANTS Private Higher Education was registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). This transformation solidified our commitment to Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes.

The DHET-approved programmes include a Higher Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education, a Diploma in Grade R Teaching, a Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching, and a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching. Accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), these programmes uphold the highest standards.

As a Distance Higher Education Institution, SANTS Private Higher Education prioritizes addressing the contextual realities of students, especially those in rural areas. Our commitment to providing affordable, quality professional higher education programmes is unwavering. The programmes empower students to teach in their preferred language of learning and teaching (LoLT), offering Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sepedi, and Setswana as language electives.
