You may have heard of the trend that is podcasts. If you think that listening to randoms chatting is not for you, we have some thoughts on this topic. You might want to consider these thoughts before totally trashing the idea.ย Just a suggestion.
Some of the main benefits of listening to audio content include the ability to feed your brain while achieving other tasks such as commuting to school, varsity or work. Whether you are running around doing errands, exercising, cleaning or painting a picture, podcasts are an easy way to keep your brain engaged and learning as you go.
At this point, the question โWhat is a podcast?โ might be on your lips.ย Well, a podcast consists of any informational content (whether educational, news and politics or lifestyle and health, etc.) that is recorded as audio content and is broadcast onto podcast software. In general, this content is either informative, humorous or helpful in some way.ย You can use podcast apps, such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or Spotify on your android, or Apple device to download and listen to any audio content you’re interested in for free.
New Trend: Multitasking Mania
This new trend, is actually not so new anymore! It was created in 2004 (that is 15 whole years ago, can you believe it?) by a former MTV video jockey, Adam Curry, together with a software developer, Dave Winer. The original purpose of a podcast, in the โiPodderโ software, was to download radio content onto an ipod. Little did they realise it would revolutionise the way we see multi tasking, learning and even โzoning out.โย Yip, it is pretty cool.ย
ย If you havenโt heard yet, podcasts are the new way to multitask. The main benefit of listening to a podcast over reading is that it allows you to kill two birds with one stone. Your running or exercise routine can become an educational platform for studying new concepts and thinking beyond your normal thoughts. You can listen to a series of podcasts while cooking, cleaning your room or commuting. ย Whatever the case, you are given the opportunity to learn something new. Where reading runs the risk of triggering heavy eyelids, listening to podcasts will give your eyes a break, and allow you to learn audibly.ย Podcasts are a winning way forward.

Something we love about podcasts is the array of lengths you can choose from. Some are up to 1 hour long while others are 10 minutes to 20 minutes long. Depending on whether youโre sitting in traffic or on a 20-minute jog, podcasts can keep you going!ย
