Bachelor of Theology or Divinity

Theology is an in-depth study of Christianity. It includes modules such as the Old Testament, New Testament, Practical Theology and Missiology. It also includes modules regarding social issues like HIV/Aids so that at the end of the course, you are equipped to handle all situations in the correct manner. This degree could lead to a variety of different theology careers which all lead to helping people grow and to extend your knowledge on the Christian realm.

A Bachelor of Divinity is more specialised for those who wish to become Dutch Reformed pastors. Read through the table below to discover which sector of theology careers would best suit you.

Average starting salary of R7286.67 a month.

  • Youth worker

  • counsellor

  • community worker

Four school subjects designated for university admissions 50%

Bachelor of Divinity

Average salary of R16,500 a month.

  • Minister in the Dutch Reformed church or United Reformed Church- must complete the BDiv and MDiv.

  • Dutch Reformed church candidates also need a Postgraduate Diploma in Theology(Christian Ministry)
