Helderberg College of Higher Education is a private higher education institution founded in 1893 and based in Somerset West, Western Cape, South Africa. Located 30 minutes from Cape Town on a stunning 370-acre campus, the college is CHE accredited and owned by the Southern Africa Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Admission Requirements

Helderberg College welcomes qualified applicants from South Africa and internationally.

South African applicants must possess a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with: pass in seven subjects minimum, four compulsory subjects (two languages with English mandatory, Life Orientation, and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy). A Foundation Year option is available for those not meeting direct degree entry requirements.

International applicants require: equivalent high school qualification recognized by South African standards, English proficiency (TOEFL score minimum 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based if English is not your first language), certified copies of all academic transcripts and certificates, valid passport documentation, and visa requirements for non-SADC countries. The college offers bridging programs for students requiring additional academic preparation.

Funding Options and Financial Aid

Tuition Fees and Cost of Study

Helderberg College provides transparent and competitive fee structures to ensure accessibility of quality higher education.

Standard fee components for 2026: Registration Fee: R5,000 per semester (non-refundable) for degree programs; R3,000 for Higher Certificates and Foundation Year. Tuition Fees: R456 per credit (variable depending on actual credits registered). Residence fees, textbooks, study materials, meal plans, and facility fees are additional.

International Student Payment Terms: First-year international students must pay full registration, tuition, and boarding fees before registration. From year two onwards, international students pay 50% upfront with the remaining 50% due by 31 March (1st Semester) or 31 August (2nd Semester).
