Some of UNISA’s online application dates for 2022 have already closed. But fret not! In some cases, there are exceptions.
We have put together all the information you need about the application process, application closing dates, and what you should do if you want to apply to study at UNISA in 2022.
UNISA makes offers based on the number of spaces available for each qualification.
Suppose you want to apply for admission to the 2022-2023 academic year. In that case, you have to re-apply during the next application period prescribed by UNISA, which they publish on their official site regularly.
If you were registered in 2021 and want to study in 2022, you will have to re-register for the 2022 academic year.
- First-time students may register outside of the approved registration dates.
- Re-registering Unisa students must register during the prescribed registration period.
We recommend that you regularly check for any changes to application dates on UNISA’s application website. There, you will find all of the prescribed application periods for Undergraduate qualifications, Honours degrees and Postgraduate diplomas, Masters and Doctoral qualifications and Short Learning Programmes (SLPs). Check that list to see if your selected qualification appears on the list. If your selected qualification does appear on the list, this means there are still spaces available, and you can still apply online for 2022.
If your qualification of choice is not listed, you can apply for an alternative qualification or wait for the next application period to be published on their website.
According to UNISA’s most recent publication on their website, here are the opening and closing dates for the following qualifications:
- Undergraduate applications for the 2022 academic year have closed. The window for applications was between 11 August 2021 to 15 October 2021.
- Honours degree and postgraduate diploma applications for the 2022 academic year have closed. The window for applications was between 11 August 2021 to 15 October 2021. However, additional application dates may be announced on UNISA’s website if there are still spaces available for the 2022 academic year, so try to make sure you check it regularly.
- Master’s and doctoral qualifications for the 2022 academic year are still open! The window for application is between 08 September 2021 and 12 November 2021. So get applying now! After this window closes, only the qualifications with spaces available will remain open until the end of January 2022.
There are, however, some exceptions that apply for Master’s and doctoral degrees. You may apply for the following qualifications outside the prescribed application dates:
Selection degrees:
- Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology – Consulting Psychology
- Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology
- Master of Commerce in Industrial and Organisational Psychology
- Master of Education in Education Management
- College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences – MSc in Nature Conservation
- College of Economic and Management Sciences – Qualifications in the Department of Decision Sciences
- College of Science, Engineering and Technology – Qualifications in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (except for Computer Science and Information Systems qualifications)
How to Apply for UNISA Late Application 2022
Follow the steps below to apply online for admission:
- Go to UNISA’s online application portal.
- At the top of UNISA’s page, click on the “Admission tab”
- Then, you scroll over to “Apply for Admission”
- Choose your preferred qualification (Undergraduate qualifications, Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas, Master’s & doctoral qualifications or Short Learning Programmes (SLPs)
- Start your UNISA Application process for the 2022 academic year.
If you decide not to register for the 2022 academic year for any reason, you will need to apply for admission during the next application period on UNISA’s online application site.
That is why Unisa always encourages everyone who wishes to apply to study at UNISA, to submit their application as early as possible and reach the institution’s authorities on time.
Also, remember that Unisa only accepts online applications, and admission to a qualification is not automatic – it will depend on whether you comply with the admission requirements and if there is space available.
